Trent Reznor is having a busy month with the release of the soundtrack to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, but he’s already mapping out his future plans. The singer spoke with Zane Lowe on BBC Radio One, where he discussed his soundtrack work, his role in How to Destroy Angels and the reconfiguration of Nine Inch Nails.

"I need to commit to doing something different, and that doesn't mean I'm not going to return to that [Nine Inch Nails] at some point,” Reznor said. "But I find myself pushed and pulled back into the same routine of album, tour, album, tour, album, tour, while a list of things I'd like to try and do in life sits untouched on the table."

When asked directly if he planned on returning to Nine Inch Nails, he said: “For sure. I plan on spending a good portion of this year coming up writing with that in mind. Let's see what happens.” This news doesn’t come as a total surprise—Reznor saidNine Inch Nails “is not dead” in an interview earlier this year—but it will be interesting to see what he comes up with that doesn’t fit into the “album, tour, album” cycle he resents so much.
