'Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2' soundtrack

RYAN ARCIERO/The Examiner

With the “Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2” movie premiere exactly a month and week away, it’s the perfect time for Summit Entertainment to reveal this Monday, October 8, that actress Nikki Reed, singer Ellie Goulding, and the band Green Day will be featured on the film’s music soundtrack.

“Twilight” fans may be excited to find that Green Day will be appearing on the adaptation’s upcoming soundtrack to appeal to a whole new age and style of music listeners. The song, “The Forgotten,” will serve as the music album’s lead single, as Atlantic Records reported this Monday in a press release.

The song itself will be released this October 23, which is also the date that pre-orders for “The Forgotten” and the rest of the album are to go on sale.

Says the band’s Mike Dirnt, bassist for Green Day: “When we were asked to be part of the ‘Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2’ movie soundtrack, we readily agreed because the movies are just an insane cultural phenomenon. We’ve always been impressed with the way ‘Twilight’ soundtracks have been created so carefully.”

Ellie Goulding (“Lights”) is also set to be featured on the “Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2” soundtrack. Other artists on the album include Reeve Carney, Passion Pit, and Christina Perri (also sang “A Thousand Years” on the “Breaking Dawn Part 1” soundtrack).

"I am so honored and excited to be involved again in this final movie soundtrack," says Perri. "I'm also really happy 'A Thousand Years' is making a comeback, but it's not the same … you'll just have to wait and see how this time around!”

"Twilight" star Nikki Reed (who plays Rosalie Hale) will actually make her singing debut on this year’s soundtrack with "All I Ever Needed," a special duet that also features her husband, past American Idol singer Paul McDonald.

The final installment to the epic series in Summit Entertainment's "Twilight Saga" will sink its fangs into theaters this November 16.
