Muse frontman Matthew Bellamy has broken his foot and the alt-rock band has canceled tour dates as he recovers.
The band said in a statement posted on their website that they canceled the tour dates rather than having Bellamy use crutches on stage. "The band have therefore made the difficult decision to cancel these gigs as they feel that they will not be able to do justice to their live show and the fans who have bought tickets with Matt performing on crutches," the statement read.
On Twitter, Bellamy posted an X-ray photo of a foot and a picture of himself on crutches and his foot in a brace with the note, "On crutches for a while."
Beginning on Jan. 21, the band has North American tour dates lined up, starting with a concert at Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, California. In October, Muse's latest album, "The 2nd Law," debuted on the Billboard 200 at number two in the United States with 101,000 copies sold in its first week.
