Yo La Tengo to Sell Hannukah Show Mixes to Benefit Norton Record's Sandy Recovery

Carrie Battan/Pitchfork

As part of their annual Hannukah residency at Maxwell's in Hoboken this year, Ira and James of Yo La Tengo put together mix CDs drawn from their personal record collections.Matador reports that these mixes will now be available for download at $10, all of which will go directly to the Hurricane Sandy-destroyed Norton Records in Broolyn.

Recall that Norton-- a label that's released everyone from Jerry Lee Lewis to the Black Lips--lost nearly all of the stock and archives in its warehouse when Sandy hit this fall. The downloads are available here for 24 hours, beginning this Friday at noon, in conjunction with Three Lobed Recordings. Two custom mixes from the Norton catalogue will also be available.

Watch a video detailing the Norton damage and recovery process below, and make a donation here.
