The Avalanches’ contribution to King Kong musical

Alex Young/Consequence of Sound

There’s still no new album to speak of, but The Avalanches have contributed music to a forthcoming musical adaption of King Kong alongside Justice, Massive Attack, and more. Now, as Pitchfork points out, there’s a YouTube video featuring snippets of the soundtrack. Scroll to the 1:58 mark to hear The Avalanches’ contribution, a cover of pop standard “Get Happy”, originally written by Harold Arlen and Ted Koehler, made famous by Judy Garland.

The musical is set to debut this summer in Melbourne, Australia. Marius deVries (Björk and Massive Attack) composed and arranged the score.
