Janelle Monáe postpones tour dates, needs vocal rest

BEN KAYE/Consequence of Sound

Janelle Monáe has postponed tour stops in Anaheim, San Diego, and Phoenix due to “strict doctor’s order for mandatory vocal rest.” It seems even an android’s vocal chords are no match for dynamic, two-hour long performances.

In a post on her website, The Electric Lady singer states that not canceling the dates “could possibly result in damage to [her] vocal cords.” Read the rest of her post below:
Unfortunately, this diagnosis means I will have to postpone my coming concerts in Anaheim, San Diego and Phoenix, a fact which truly leaves me heartsick and shaken because I live for this: connecting with you and giving you a one of a kind concert experience. But alas, apparently even the most expertly designed android breaks down sometimes and must recharge…I promise to see you sooner than you think my friends, stronger than ever.I love you all dearly. My sincerest apologies.
