Least we forget amidst the controversy surrounding the band’s performance at Glastonbury and Lars Ulrich’s impending drum-off against Will Ferrell and Chad Smith that Metallica are actually working on a new album, their first since 2008′s Death Magnetic.

The band first previewed their latest LP by debuting a track called “Lords of Summer”during a concert in Bogotá, Colombia earlier this year. Later, they shared a “garage demo” version of the track. Now, just a week away from their Glastonbury gig, the band has let loose a studio version — or, whatever a “first pass version” means. It’s streaming below and also available for purchase via iTunes.
