Martin Scorsese Attached To Ramones Biopic

James Rettig/StereoGum

The 40th anniversary of the Ramones’ debut album is coming up in 2016 and the estate that controls the band’s image has a lot in the works. In an interview with Billboard, Ramones estate co-manager Jeff Jampol shed some light on new plans that they have coming up. Most exciting is a fictional film about the Ramones that has currently has Martin Scorsese attached, though in what capacity is unclear. Other plans are a separate documentary that will feature never-before-seen footage from Ramones tours in the ’70s and ’80s, a theatrical play, and a book, “which is not a biographical book so much, but a story of the band’s formation and those first few records and the craziness that happened.” No word on when any of this will be coming out, but we’re sure to hear more details in the coming year.
