Nicki Minaj’s video for “Anaconda”

Chris Coplan/Consequence of Sound

Nicki Minaj could have gone a number of different directions for her “Anaconda” video. Since the song samples “Baby Got Back”, a modern-day interpretation of Sir Mix-A-Lot’s oh-so classic clip would have been good. As would a spoofing of the Ice Cube-Jennifer Lopez film of the same name. Instead, the video will most be remembered as the time Minaj made Earth’s entire sentient population jealous by giving Drake a rather risque lap dance. If you thought the song’s cover art got folks all hot and bothered, then just wait till you click play below.

“Anaconda” is the second single off Minaj’s upcoming third studio album, The Pink Print, due out later this year. Of the follow-up to 2012’s Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, Minaj said, “The Pink Print will remind people why they fell in love with Nicki Minaj. And I think that needs to be done.” For more sounds, check out the evocative “Pills N Potions”.
