Norah Jones brings Conan’s George Harrison Week to a fitting end

BEN KAYE/Consequence of Sound

Thursday night marked the finale of Conan O’Brien’s George Harrison tribute week. Norah Jones — whose father Ravi Shanker was a collaborator of Harrison’s — delivered a touching performance of “Behind That Locked Door” from 1970’s All Things Must Pass. Watch the replay below.

Conan’s week-long ode to the late Beatle also featured Beck covering “Wah Wah”, Paul Simon revisiting “Here Comes the Sun”, and Harrison’s own son Dhani tackling both “Let It Down” and “Ballad Of Sir Frankie Crisp (Let It Roll)” with Big Black Delta.

The performances are one of many happenings honoring Harrison during the past month. Capitol Records recently released the new George Harrison: The Apple Years 1968-1975 box set, which compiles his first six solo albums plus unreleased live recordings and demos. On Sunday, September 28th, an all-star tribute concert will take place at Los Angeles’ Fonda Theatre featuring The Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd, Spoon’s Britt Daniel, Brian Wilson, “Weird” Al Yankovic, The Killers’ Brandon Flowers and Mark Stoermer, and more.
